You get about 5% of the satisfaction of having done the job yourself, but it doesn't cost any money and you sit on the couch the whole time.

Never saw the show, but 35 years is a pretty good run for just about anything...

Really? There are youtubes with it. Try one out. I bet you like it.
Must not have a television. There's really no way you could avoid it as an adult of the last 40 years.
just not interested.

And when I do think of TOH, this is the only image that I associate with it

Roger is the tall guy who is stooped over a little. He has curly blond/brown hair and does the landscaping segments. He has the thickest Boston accent of them all.

I'll look on my cached episodes to see if he's still there.

On the latest project, there's been a woman in charge of landscaping.

The current series (41) has Norm Abram making some appearances. He's been my favorite personality on the show, followed by Tom Silva.

Big fan of Norm, liked Tom, but Rich Trethewey (plumbing) was always my favorite.

.....Roger.....that....

Re: This Old House "News" - bazookaman - 02-01-2020

Tom Silva has kind of taken over the "master carpenter" role than Norm had. Norm is more of a guest appearance nowadays. But Tom's getting up there too. Richard Trethewy's son is on it now too every now and then. I like watching Ask This Old House too. I guess they're to work in a new generation now that the old one is aging out.

I know Roger had some sort of health problem that kept him off the show for a bit last year. He did come back for a bit this season and looked better, but probs not 100%. They brought in the lady landscaper a while back and it probably coincided with Roger’s health issues.
I have watch TOH probably as long as it has been on. I have learned a lot about the right way to do things in home improvement. The TOH crew could build me a house and I would not feel the need to even check in on them. They are all true professionals and only do things the right way. A dying breed, I am afraid.

I agree. Every time I watch an episode, it makes me want to tear my house down to the studs and start over.

This old house is that show with Bob Villa and Norm, right?
