I detest LG almost as much as I do Mitch. Almost, not quite, but it is damn close. Re: Collins just released a position statement... - Lemon Drop - 09-20-2020 These are the "two events" that Graham says make it OK for him to do the complete reverse of what he said he'd do: I stand by what I said in Jan. 2019: Harry Reid & Chuck Schumer changed Senate rules to try and stack the courts for Obama. Now it's coming back to haunt them as I predicted. I'm dead set on confirming realDonaldTrump’s nominee. Harry Reid changed the rules to allow a simple majority vote for Circuit Court nominees dealing out the minority. Chuck Schumer and his friends in the liberal media conspired to destroy the life of Brett Kavanaugh and hold that Supreme Court seat open. Re: Collins just released a position statement... - AllGold - 09-20-2020 Brett Kavanaugh was and still is unqualified for the position. That has nothing to do with his sexual assault allegations. And that rule change was in 2013, long before Graham’s “Use my words against me” quote. Furthermore, The rule change does not apply to Supreme Court nominees, who are still subject to a 60-vote filibuster threshold, or to legislation. Re: Collins just released a position statement... - pdq - 09-20-2020 GOP hypocrisy- that was then, this is now: Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) in 2016: I don’t think we should be moving on a nominee in the last year of this president’s term -I would say that if it was a Republican president. Just shameless. I hope (and expect) that the American people recognizes not only the hypocrisy, but that this is underhanded and fundamentally unfair. Re: Collins just released a position statement... - pdq - 09-20-2020 ...and just before the announcement of RBG’s death: Alaska Senator Murkowski said Friday she would not vote for a justice ahead of Inauguration Day Will she keep her word? Only if McConnell gives her special dispensation... Re: Collins just released a position statement... - sekker - 09-20-2020 Murkowski is interesting. We will see if she comes out to reiterate what she said Fri. I kind of think that's why Trump released his nominee list, for the Senate to chew over, not us. |
