These were politically motivated crimes and while crimes of most stripes need to be addressed, I'm not seeing any evidence that sentencing these people to serve time in our burgeoning private prison industry actually does any good for anyone but stockholders of the industry.
We need to find a way that leads to issuing punishment that fits the crime.

If you're looking for some sort of equitable "punishment fits the crime" solution, I think you will appreciate the justness of sentencing them to long federal prison terms.
Slave-labor in federal prisons is the source for most of the furniture in the Capitol and will be used to replace most of the stuff they trashed.
