Over the years I have seen people react in horror as I sat there and shared a Hershey bar with my buddy. Never had a problem and always in moderation (yeah, right!). Here's a link to a Vet info site on Dog Toxins and chocolate http://www.vetinfo4dogs.com/dtoxin.html#Chocolate%20toxicity
If you read the whole article it tells you the toxicity level for each kind of chocolate vs body weight of the dog. Milk chocolate is the least toxic while bakers chocolate should be kept out of reach of both pets and small children - unless you don't like small children

Since my post this morning "Lady" has been drinking water and seems to be as active irksome as usual to her buddy, our five years old terrier mutt.

Regarding an emergency number of a nearby vet. There is a vet hospital just a couple blocks from our house. I had thought that I would have to depend on our regular vet at Banfields (7 miles away!) solely.
