Older folks often dress "better" than "young-uns", even if only going to the target range. I see other reddit posters ask why anyone would need an AR15. They'd probably be miffed if anyone asked them why they need a vehicle that can do twice the speed limit. Those people own and use cars and, they DON'T expect THEIR choices to be questioned. The OVERWHELMING number of firearms are never used criminally. A firearm is merely a TOOL and, ANY tool can be misused. If all firearms were to "magically disappear", evil-doers would simply choose another tool to misuse. :oldfogey:

Cars are for transportation. Regardless of speed, they move people and goods from a to b. Manufacturers work hard to make them safer so people don't get hurt while using them.

Assault style guns are for injecting hot metal into flesh and causing maximum injury or death. Manufacturers work hard to make them more deadly...
Mil-spec is mil-spec...AR-15 design hasn't changed since the 1960s.

The AWB of 1994-2004, however, encouraged much more domestic AR-15 manufacture since it banned many popular import models.
Beginning in the 1980s, when gun sales were declining, gun manufacturers began developing new weapons based on military platforms that would seem more exciting, and more deadly, to gun enthusiasts. They have been tragically correct.

Nice try blaming it on the ban though

It's predictable that with AR-15s in the hands of the population, there will be a certain number of mass shooting casualties. What number of such deaths is the acceptable number to you? Is it 20 dead per year? 50? The gun lobby treats these deaths as incidental to their desire to protect wide-open weapons ownership. Where do you personally draw the line?

Think before you type?

Tools are chosen for purpose, convenience and performance, and you know that.

To pretend otherwise is not only mistaken, but insulting.

Feel free to opine that knives, hammers and stapler killings will become the same kind of worry without guns around, and any sane person will rightly call you a liar, an idiot, or both.

Be careful that all the strawmen don't catch fire.
