I couldn’t make a heat pump pencil out here. It gets too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. I do own two Volt EVs and have an 7kw solar system. So your 11kw system is indeed HUGE. I feel like I’ve given our family a 10% raise just in fuel savings.

I don't think it qualifies as a "Ha Ha" moment. Your objectors' problems aren't severe enough. Plus it will all moderate at some point. But you definitely deserve the pat on the back for looking out for your best interests.

The original Tesla Roadster was able to do this too, but no one understood that 'feature' at the time.

IIRC, Volt and Leaf batteries from salvaged wrecks are being adapted to solar back up batteries.
