Wiffleball bat frozen full of water in the freezer. By the time the police arrive the most offensive part of the weapon has melted.

Aluminum, not steel, also good for tenderizing cheap cuts of beef or pounding chicken/veal cutlets.
Bright LED light also good for disorienting attackers before whacking 'em upside the head.
