Why? Once you're wealthy enough, and don't care to actively manage your investments (because you want to do other things with your time....which is the whole point of having wealth), why would you put yourself in more risky investments? Naturally I'm not talking about your entire portfolio, just what you need to satisfy yourself, risk the rest as much as you want. For example we'll pretty soon reach a point where we won't need anymore, so we'll set aside that in conservative assets, and let the rest continue to grow wild.

Again, why? As it is, we're sitting on a 13x gain since the beginning of 2017 (prior to that we were in index funds or AAPL). On average you can only expect a 2-3x return during that time period. Do you know a way to make more? If so, for the good of the group, please share.

That's what someone who has inadequate understanding of a particular investment would say. And to be fair, no one should be investing in something they don't understand (or the degree of investment should reflect that). This is why most people should keep their money in index funds, there are better things to do with your time, unless of course it's your hobby (which for my brother it is).
