When I was working at the Times, I always tried to work holidays. We got double time and another day off. It was also set up so that we were essentially just on call if needed. So most holidays I didn't even have to go in, just answer my phone if anyone called. I think I got called maybe three times in 20 years.

Off on Friday for Christmas Eve, off on Monday for Xmas
Half a day off for New Years Eve, taking 4 hours personal for that day
Off on Jan 1st, back to work on the 2nd.

My office is PTO closed on both the 25th and 26th, seeing as the 24th is a Sunday this year.

My workweek is Friday through Monday. Happy to work Monday, and my usual days off T-W-R. Pretty sure time and a half.

Wow. First one to mention this scenario.
Teacher. I get from 12/21 to 1//7. Also, 1/8 is a teacher workday for the end of the semester, so, while I do have to work, it’s kind of a gift. No students means I can get a lot of behind the scenes work done, which makes the continued daily effort after that much more manageable for a while.

For the last few years of work, I took off between Christmas and New Years.
I’ve been retired for 5 years.
