Re: 'I can't wait to be sued' - Fritz - 06-19-2024 " Apparently, in their version of the bible it's perfectly fine to covet your neighbor's ass." hey, hey, hey, let's not be bringing facts into the bible. Re: 'I can't wait to be sued' - PeterB - 06-20-2024 Whoops, I didn't see this post when I made mine, just above. Worth noting that this was NOT the only thing he signed into law. And yes, residents of my state (including myself of course!) will be paying to defend his dufus @ss. Re: 'I can't wait to be sued' - cbelt3 - 06-20-2024 To be true, it should only be posted in the original language. There's disagreement even as to what the Ten Commandments are, and in what language they were written. And the precise version of the Commandments specified in this bill -- it is not clear from where it came, and so is therefore open to debate. (Oh, and while we're at it, when the Commandments mention "God", to which "God" is this referring? Is it Yahweh, the Christian God, Satan, or someone else?) Re: 'I can't wait to be sued' - pdq - 06-20-2024 I always liked that apparently God made the first labor-friendly law with the six day work week. ‘Course, I imagine that didn’t apply to slaves. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Eternal your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your ox or your ass, or any of your cattle, or the stranger in your settlements, so that your male and female slave may rest as you do. Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt and the Eternal your God freed you from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm; therefore the Eternal your God has commanded you to observe the sabbath day. They have no problem at all with equating their very selective view of what "our" is with the actual collective sense of what "our" is. It's a conceit. It's entitlement. It's BS. In the text of the bill: B.(1) No later than January 1, 2025, each public school governing authority So no choice in wording. In an earlier section, they provide this rationale for why this is Constitutional: (3) In 2019, the Supreme Court of the United States further recognized that That Supreme Court language practically begs for Christian nationalists to try to wedge this as widen open as they can with this now even more Christian nationalist sympathetic Court.
