bullied, harassed, or molested, etc, there are other ways to fight back, not with a gun.
I don't think anyone is saying that, but the motivation for many of these shooters is based on having been mercilessly bullied or harassed. At that age, kids often can't see any option other than suicide or homicide... the adults in their lives either aren't aware of what's going on, or aren't willing to intervene, sometimes seeing bullying as a "normal" part of growing up. :RollingEyesSmiley5:

Also, since school shootings have been the rage since before Columbine, might as well follow in others’ footsteps and kill a few of your enemies before taking your own life. Why go out alone when you have a gun that can quickly and easily take out a bunch.

Brenda Spencer shot up a school in San Diego long before it became fashionable… she, too, “didn’t like Mondays”… sometimes, that’s all there is to it.

I think there is a danger to thinking because someone says "why" they did something that that is actually a real explanation for their behavior. There is absolutely no reason to think people know completely why they do things. It can give insight, but there are undoubtedly factors they are not aware of.

That's been retracted by the police. It was a second grade teacher who called 911.
