When another billionaire goes to war with Musk. Right now he OWNS the Republican Party.

It's not just gonna "end" overnight. The people that have made this possible, have thrown all logic and reason out the door long ago. They can't really be trusted. It'll end when the people who don't vote or make some excuse to not defeat Republicans for some selfish reason do so.

Too soon to tell.

He's got an approval rating of 53%, we need to see that dropping by a lot for there to be any hope for change.

Question assumes it will be restored. :wall:

This will end when the millions of laid off workers vote for democrats in the midterm elections, then the democrats impeach and convict Trump and send him to guantanamo.

it'd be better if they could send him to live with all the Palestinians, but that seems less realistic.

And ELMO too.

With his attack on so many critical intelligence institutions, literal invasions, takeover and scouring of private information, and now talk of actually declaring themselves above all judicial oversight, basically declaring themselves a monarchy, along with their ties to hostile foreign entities, I would not be at all surprised if there is sooner rather than later a coalition put together that will in some fashion clandestinely remove him.

He created the fiction of a deep state enemy. With his Nixonesque madman act against his own country and our allies, he very well may create the real thing. One far more powerful and unforgiving than he could imagine.

The only thing that can stop it is an economic shock. If we don't get that, the unmotivated middle will not get off their couches. The left and right leaning voters will vote the same as they always have no matter what happens.

I sadly tend to agree. Mild continuing inflation is already built in, it's hard to shock anyone post-covid.

Keeping in mind how this stuff is being reported in right wing media, the only source for right wingers. They are hearing Rump and elmo are magnificent. Doing what Rump promised.

Federal workers would only impact voting in areas that are already blue. Rump and Vance know this.

Dems do not have a majority among voters. We have a slim chance of winning the House in 2026, but even if we do the GOP will hold the Senate and very few of Rump's Actions can be stopped by Congress. By Jan 2026 imagine the damage already done.

We're at the mercy of courts. And if Rump defies them, we're in uncharted waters.

I hope I'm wrong, but so far Americans are pretty much rolling over.

It looks, honestly, like we’re barreling toward a constitutional crisis, and sooner rather than later.

Trump is ignoring the courts, and will continue to do so as long as the situation will allow him to.

The VP is posting that it’s “illegal” for a court to tell the executive branch what to do (or in other words, have any power over them as they are breaking the law, which they are). Unelected, unappointed, unconfirmed Musk is calling any limitations on his activity a “judicial coup”.

I heard a recent Trump snippet this morning where he said judges should be ruling on cases, not giving orders - apparently he’s never heard of a court order.

Anyway, Trump has always done whatever he wants, until people - generally his people - tell him no.

His people are not going to tell him no. We need to, or we have a dictatorship.

It's going to end when Republicans in Congress realize that their jobs are going to be on the line, because ain't no jobs if there ain't no Legislative Branch. It's a question of how long before they figure out that the risk of being primaried is moot if there's no seats to run for.

I don't think their jobs are on the line. They can be coopted by the usurper king's imperial administration and given a cut of the royal treasury. They've already demonstrated they'll sell us out for a few tens of thousands in campaign donations; an offer of something like a quarter billion each would make most of the ~270 Reps and Senators "wealthy" beyond their wildest dreams to be governors of their newly assigned feudal serfs the rest of their lives.

At least, until, a little while from now, they realize how much the private security they're going to need will cost them.

The usurper king is not going to listen to US because he thinks this is his America now. The only people he might listen to are the ones he has already paid off in Congress above.
