unfortunately over two thousand years, the Church has become somewhat slow in responding. After all, they're still arguing about threatening Galileo, and he's been dead for a rather long time.

What a bunch of loonies. It's shocking when you go to the Vatican and see the amassed treasures these guys have obtained from the populace at large.

The newly admitted baby souls will be met and greeted by Barney. They will then have to choose whether to stay or opt for the alternative. The percentage of those who elect to stay won't be available until the Vatican decides how to parse this thicket.

[quote kj]>>A Vatican panel has suggested (with the Pope's approval) that unbaptized babies could be admitted to Heaven.

I'm sure God does exactly as He wants, without any regard for what the Pope, or anyone else for that matter, decides He should do. The Catholic church seems to try a little too hard to figure everything out in detail. kj.
Agreed. This all sounds like madness as far as I am concerned.

How are you going to keep the minions at bay if you can't convince them that you are all knowing and powerful?

I fail to see how this is any stranger than the beliefs of any other branch of Christianity.

If the Catholic Church didn't claim superiority (being the voice of Christ on earth) and if the didn't feel a need to set up a set of their own commandments like:

The 5 Commandments of the Church:
1- Go to Holy Mass every Sunday and Feasts to keep
2- Confess at least once a year at Paschal time
3- Receive the Eucharist at least once a year at Paschal time
4- Fast and Abstinence as order by the Church
5- Give tithes to the Church as ordered

...and thus set themselves up as Godlike, maybe people wouldn't focus so much criticism on them. It might also help if they stopped letting their salesmen wear dresses and denounced them for preying on young children.

They chose instead to cover these things up and when paying people off became to much, to declare bankruptcy. Lots of reasons they're the poster church of hypocrisy and a prime target.

Not to mention they have deep pockets, if you could ever get to them.

Yeah, they were pretty slow. They make gov't bureaucrats like me look positively speedy. Galileo was officially forgiven in 1992:

Thankfully, the Church has had the sense to come down firmly against the fundies and their creationism nonsense.

I was just going to bring this up as I went down through the thread, but you already had. Good to know that God has the Pope's permission. I bet that puts God at ease.

Unless you're Catholic, I don't understand why you would give a rat's ass one way or the other.
