Re: Jerry Falwell - R.I.P. - vision63 - 05-15-2007 [quote Ombligo]I'm very familer with his hatred and in no way support his beliefs. However I can look past it to send my condolences to his wife and family. By doing so I show that I am a bigger man than he ever was. This only belongs in the political forum if one wishes to make it political. I do not. It "does" make you a bigger man than he. Re: Jerry Falwell - R.I.P. - trisho. - 05-15-2007 As said in an email to friends earlier today: "Finally! Now all we need is for the Devil to call in his pact with Dick Cheney and we'll (almost) be good to go." I had a similar reaction when Strom Thurman died and do not feel the need to apologise whatsoever. Re: Jerry Falwell - R.I.P. - Robo - 05-15-2007 RIP, I agree. Rip his bloated carcass into pieces on live television and host parties around the country! Re: Jerry Falwell - R.I.P. - $tevie - 05-15-2007 "They say you should only speak good about the dead. He's dead. Good." --Moms Mabley Re: Jerry Falwell - R.I.P. - Kiva - 05-15-2007 For those of you who wish to react to Falwell's anger and hatred w/ more hatred, I have this, by Frederick Buechner: "Of the Seven Deadly Sins, anger is possibly the most fun. To lick your wounds, to smack your lips over grievances long past, to roll over your tongue the prospect of bitter confrontations still to come, to savor to the last toothsome morsel both the pain you are given and the pain you are giving back -- in many ways it is a feast fit for a king. The chief drawback is that what you are wolfing down is yourself. The skeleton at the feast is you." Falwell was a man so full of fear. If you hate him right back, you're just as bad as he was. kiva Re: Jerry Falwell - R.I.P. - Baby Tats - 05-15-2007 ![]() BYE JERRY! Re: Jerry Falwell - R.I.P. - the_poochies - 05-15-2007 I'm still mourning the death of Barbaro ![]() I'm sure the Rev. will be spending eternity pole dancing in a gay bar in San Francisco ![]() Re: Jerry Falwell - R.I.P. - $tevie - 05-15-2007 [quote Kiva]For those of you who wish to react to Falwell's anger and hatred w/ more hatred, I have this, by Frederick Buechner: "Of the Seven Deadly Sins, anger is possibly the most fun. But I don't think a moment or two of disrespect is nearly the equivalent of an entire lifetime spreading hate and fear. I doubt if anyone on this thread actively hates Falwell to the point of savoring to the last toothsome morsel. Well, except perhaps for chas_m. Re: Jerry Falwell - R.I.P. - deckeda - 05-15-2007 I've got no hatred for him per se, nor do I take particular glee in his death. But on the subject of "resting in piece" --- (in the spiritual sense) I've got serious doubts. I'm thinking that right about now, his express pass to the Promised Land has , at best, been put on hold with customer service and that "someone will be right with him in a few minutes." I think Falwell was a force of evil during his life, so is better off dead. That way he can't breed more hatred (though his minions will make sure he has a lasting effect). |
