We already have at least one "sport" with unlimited enhancements: professional wrestling. A fine example it sets, too. Allowing doping & drugs in sport is a very bad idea for the reasons davester put forward.

well, that's more a theatrical production, but does bring up a good point about testing singers/dancers, too.

I know it's a bad idea.
I just don't care anymore.

People do a lot of things that are detrimental to themselves.
Obese is soon to be the new "normal." (in this country)
I used to give a [hoot], but I have decided that I am going to worry about me from now on.

I used to take [amateur] sports pretty seriously, too. No longer.

The reason he was caught was not only due to the high red blood cell count but that they were not his own RBC's. He used a transfusion of a compatible donor. What an idiot!!!

Even I know that if you are going to blood dope, you need to store your own RBC's so they all match during the test.

BTW, macmagus, they are not talking about blood doping (i.e. transfusions), they are talking about drug use (steroids, etc.).
That was also included, it is right there in the NY Times article, "Star Alexandre Vinokourov was sent home after testing positive for a banned blood transfusion."
I was unclear in that I was talking about all of the "doping..and more doping..."accusations implied by the title of the thread. I should have said that they are not talking ONLY about blood doping.

Someone should sign Barry Bonds up. Oh yeah, I forgot, he doesn't use steriods.
