Re: Can anyone recommend a good brand of DVD+R DL ? - fromish - 12-30-2007 If you have brand name Verbatim 8x discs, the discs are probably NOT the problem. However Verbatim 2.4x DL DVD have unpredictable quality now since all the old 2.4x inventory is gone. Verbatim formerly made all their discs at their MKM Singapore plant, but have outsourced their 2.4X disks to Moser Baer in India. Unfortunately those disks still read MKM001 and have inconsistent quality. The Verbatim 8x disks are still made in Singapore and have consistent high quality and very low failure rates. Look at the country of origin label below the UPC. We are all being forced into Verbatim 8x, at least as long as those are made in Singapore. Re: Can anyone recommend a good brand of DVD+R DL ? - PeterB - 12-30-2007 Crap, I should have saved the discs... I'm now looking at two possibilities: 1) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817130029&ATT=17-130-029&CMP=OTC-Froogle&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-CD/DVD+R/RW+Media-_-VERBATIM-_-17130029 (apparently the 15-packs of Verbatim are the good ones, made in Singapore, though of course no guarantees) 2) http://meritline.stores.yahoo.net/playo-dl-dvd-plus-r-dual-layer-blank-media.html (no experience with this brand except for their CD-Rs, which I think were fine, IIRC ... the people reviewing this say it's good though) Re: Can anyone recommend a good brand of DVD+R DL ? - pixelzombie - 12-31-2007 i've had very good luck with ridata 4X DVD-R DL |
