It's Firefox that does that. I like that feature a lot, I don't know why Safari can't be designed to do that as well.

I could have sworn Safari had it...maybe it was via a plugin that i dont have anymore or something.

That one I know...I could have sworn I had a way to open links that should open in a new window into a new tab, like Firefox...maybe I'm just having a brain fart.

Air in the cranial cavity is not good. Your having a direct connection to it is even worse.
