I might even be in that niche.
I have a BT earpiece, I've used several, with both my previous phone, a Moto RAZR, and my iPhone, but man those things do suck battery juice. I've drifted back to using the wired kind of earbuds, and use the BT one only in my car, where the phone is plugged into power supply. Maybe music-centric stereo BT gear is less thirsty, or it matters less, because the iPhone would be parked on a dock maybe? Do BT stereo users generally dock the Touch, or iPhone, when listening to music? Just curious.

My SE w910i has no problem playing for my commute, which is about an hour total a day. Maybe takes about 20% of the battery for that plus an entire day of standby. Don't know about all day listening, but my headphones are too uncomfortable for that anyway.
I would think it is more the talking that runs the battery down and not just being connected to the BT set.
