I hedge my bets by Superdupering nightly to one external drive and TMing
to another drive.

I still don't see anything that clearly states that itunes or iphoto libraries are not backed it. If they didn't work for you, that is bummer, but the link you posted people clearly explain that the actual library file is backed up.

Looking at my time machine, it sure looks like itunes and the library is in there. Superduper lets you create a bootable back up, which is great. But for incremental backups and file recovery, TM also sure seems nice.
