I still haven't installed my CS3 Design Premium cause I haven't needed it and I hate the fact that it phones home. I'm still using my CS.

You do know you can disable the "phone home" thing, don't you?

FWIW, I've tried every trick in the book to disable Acrobat's phone-home feature and nothing works.

So, laarree,
what do you know we don't?

Oh, and I hope all my friends working at Adobe survive the cuts!

I've only got one friend at Adobe. She's been there about 2 years, so I don't know if she's going to make the cut. I'll get a hold of her today.

In the olden days, Adobe only released new versions of software when they had actually come up with worthwhile new features. But as many of you have noted Adobe now follows an MS-style fixed upgrade schedule, and we're seeing the many problems such avarice brings.

Yep, I knew this 18-month update cycle was going to bite them in the ass. I bought the Quark 7 update for $250 and got the 8 update for free. Never thought I'd say that Adobe should follow Quark's lead.

The firewall Little Snitch doesn't work?

Umm, preferences in Adobe Updater? Checking for updates is
the only phone-homing I'm aware of that is intrusive -- that's what
I thought you were referring to. Is there something else, like license
checking, that you are concerned about?

BTW, I use Little Snitch and CS4 on my home Mac Pro and never get
a message that CS4 is dialing home.

They have been living off this PDF for too long. Hasn't changed in years.

Take a look at Flexnet. It isn't intrusive, but it phones home to Adobe.
