Re: Can you bring yourself to throw away Apple boxes? - mstudio - 12-28-2008 I always save them until the Mac goes away. 'Course, I recently sold my iBook with the original box and all paperwork/disks/etc. inside and a few weeks later the person asked me if I had the video adapter. I told her it was in the box with everything else. She said, "Oh, I threw the box out the same day". It's true for Craigslist too. If I put two identical computers for sale at a flat price, with the only difference being one includes all of the original packaging and the other one doesn't, I guarantee the one with the packaging will sell first. In an auction the one with boxes will receive more views and result in a higher sale. Boxes give a "like new" feel. Re: Can you bring yourself to throw away Apple boxes? - samintx - 12-28-2008 I keep my apple computer boxes and usually other things like ipods...infacto....I have a difficult time throwing away boxes, plastic bags, twistem ties, string and bows from pretty boxes. I AM A PACK RAT. YES! - RAMd®d - 12-28-2008 Probably. Eventually. Maybe. I wish wish I had the box my LC came in. ...and have never had someone ask if I had the original box. Well they *are* shopping Craig's List. Re: Can you bring yourself to throw away Apple boxes? - GeneL - 12-29-2008 I definitely keep all of my boxes for electronics and kitchen electrics. IMHO, it really enhances the sale if you present what you're selling in its original packaging. It's a psychological thing. I sold my old Sherwood receiver on CL for almost as much as I paid for it years before. The buyer told me that he had looked at another similar unit and had balked at the price, but seeing mine in the box had reassured him that it was in great condition. But, as I always say, "that's just my opinion, I could be wrong." ![]() GeneL Re: Can you bring yourself to throw away Apple boxes? - Mac1337 - 12-29-2008 OK, OK. The MacBook box goes to the keeper pile! Although I have never sold anything Apple(I keep'em so long that they can no longer be sold), original packaging is definitely a plus. OK, I only charged the guy for shipping, but I sold it, sort of. /Mr Lynn Re: Can you bring yourself to throw away Apple boxes? - Mac-A-Matic - 12-29-2008 SE? I still have my MacSE. And it still works. The absolute wonder of System 6 fitting on a 3.5" Floppy Disc... I usually end up keeping my boxes - at least until I've gotten a lot of use out of the machines. Laptop boxes I still have for the day I get rid of them. Anyone interested in buying a iBook 366 Graphite Clamshell? I think I still have the box around here somewhere.
