Re: The world will love us again: another dud - $tevie - 02-09-2009 Just more static from the right. After all their complaints that "the Left wanted the war in Iraq to fail" it seems funny that they now act as if they want the new President of our country to fail. That they can't even give it a month before they declare failure is downright comical. Re: The world will love us again: another dud - Wild eep - 02-10-2009 I do so love a neocon love fest!! Can we get back to the birth certificate? Re: The world will love us again: another dud - voodoopenguin - 02-10-2009 Speaking as someone from outside the USA I will say that the attitude of most people I know is definitely moving towards the positive since the election of Obama but of course we cannot just immediately give our total support to everything. However this move to a greater warmth is tempered when we see the constant sniping from some quarters. I have had a few discussions about this with friends and none of us think we have seen such a vocal negative reaction from the 'losing' side before and I hate to say it but most feel that there is a section of the US population that will never accept that a non-white has been elected. I am sure that there will be a reaction to what I have just written but I am stating what many politically aware people from outside the USA feel. I personally wish to be shown that they are wrong. Re: The world will love us again: another dud - kj - 02-10-2009 Where's Britain's first black prime minister? kj. Re: The world will love us again: another dud - voodoopenguin - 02-10-2009 There's the first reaction. Re: The world will love us again: another dud - OWC Jamie - 02-10-2009 yes, there has been absolutely no sniping for the last 8 years and the sniping for the 8 years before that was just plain irresponsible and completely unfounded as well. disgusting and horrid I say. ![]() Re: The world will love us again: another dud - decocritter - 02-10-2009 Obama is not a non-white. A subject matter that was spewed all over the media for years. He is biracial (like more and more people around the world), was raised in a white world and that is how most view him. That one drop of black blood crap is more bullsh**. The blackest thing about him is Michelle ...and Reverend Wright. About 99.9 percent of people I know and encounter do not give a hoot about the race of Obama. It really is about fear of overly liberal politics. Re: The world will love us again: another dud - Pops - 02-10-2009 It's nice to see the racial element made so important. What a wonderful reflection of... (well, you can choose yourself.) A certain number of people in the US would never have accepted a woman as President. I also think that there are racial and other prejudices in every country in the world, however, most other countries in the world are not made up of as diverse a group of people as the US, so we tend to have more to overcome in this regard. The great thing about the US is our diversity and the way that we struggle to move forward, while embracing our differences. Some of the population moves forward more slowly than others and some just die off, eventually. Racism is not dead by any means, but I think it is dying.
