I have no problem with this policy. Far too many times I have had people who take up 1 1/2 seats next to me for cross-country flights. People aren't FORCED to be obese; there is a simple solution - stop shoving food down your mouth.

if it were that simple....for most of those obese people, neurologically, eating does what heroin does for addicts...it's sad...

and exercise produces endorphines.

Since there are a couple of you who seem to have all the answers to the issue of obesity, perhaps you ought to contribute your broad bank of accumulated knowledge to the medical community. Current research they're doing indicates the issue is much more complex than a matter of a fork moving between a plate and a mouth.

I swear, some of you are so judgmental that I'm glad we meet up only on this forum; we'd probably kill each other if we tried to talk in person.

Amen to that!

all I have to say on the matter is that every human on this planet has a specific number of calories they need to take in every day as fuel to keep them functioning in any given 24 hour period. If they consume more than they "burn" they gain weight. If they consume less than they burn, they use up their fat reserves.

You can use any excuse you want to, but if you need to cut back on your food intake, and work out 12 times a week to lose weight, that is what you need to do. Unless you don't want to make the effort.

If you are taking in the exact number of calories that you burn ecvery day, you neither gain or lose. But 500 calories a day more or less is 1 pound a week, and 4 pounds a month. Skip a cookie and a few sugared sodas a day. It ads up.

yeah, metabolism and various endocrine problems can easily cause your individual mathematical equation to be different than mine, but if calories in is bigger than calories burned, you gain weight. ITS MATH PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sucks that some people's equations are brutal.

I don't consider myself judgemental on the subject. I lived it. I have been between 160 and 240 in the past 2 decades, and am back down to about #190 right now. I lived side by side with a woman who climbed up to #300, and clawed her way back down to #200. Its just easier to sit on the couch eating the Haagen Daz than it is to go out and exercise, and eat healthy.

Life is choices. Take responsability for who and what you are. If you are unhappy, CHANGE IT. I am incredibly patient, supportive and compassionate. Heck, even my ex-wife will tell you that. I just don't go to pity parties.

Yes, but it wouldn't be an original idea:

Wow.
Anorexia nervosa and bulemia nervosa both have a simple cure.
Big bones and amazon women must be just more myth.
Who knew ?!

I never said there wasn't a psychological component of picking up the fork. That's just the next logical step after figuring out the right diet and activity equation. Making it work. That's a "compliance" issue. Not a math issue.
