Don't know what kind of trip and pics youtake, but the wider capability can come in realhandy with sme vacation pics.
Ability to turn a flash off can come in handy, too.

Does one of these cameras not have the ability to turn off the flash? That would seem extra lame.
I don't know.
I just had a litte pocket camera a whileback that one could not turn off the flash.
Something to look for.

Knowing how to turn it off /on and also knowing you have to turn it off every time you power the camera on can come in handy before one gets screamed at in Russian in a museum they are trying to protect artifacts. :-)

I can scream back in russian. Mir u druzba!
And I can't see how a lil' camera flash can harm much.

multiply it a bazillion times by American and Japanese paparazzi and apparently colours start to fade.
(plus when you're not supposed to be taking pictures at all that darned flash can be a dead giveaway ) :-)

Scream back in Russian "I'm a big dumbass Merican and you Commies can't tell me what to do!" and "I don't believe in your junk science!!" for good measure.

Then there's that, too.

Plus, flash in most pocket cameras is extremely overrated, and often used at distances and ISOs where it has no effect on the image.

Re: Let's talk about cameras. Small ones. - AAA - 09-23-2009

regardless, my concern over a flash is asymptotically approaching zero.

For the record, the Canon SD1200, like every any camera spawned from other than a Happy Meal box, does have an easily-accessible feature to turn the flash OFF no matter what, and/or to turn the flash ON no matter what.
