I have a friend who had to be brought back to life by paramedics after having an allergic reaction to shrimp "residue" from a meal served in a restaurant. When people have allergies, first, they need to make sure they are very clear with restaurant personnel when they order, and, second, they should be carrying an epi-pen with them everywhere they go. It sounds like your friend had a rather mild allergic reaction; many people go into anaphylactic shock, and they could die. It really isn't up to you to figure this out, you know.

Oh, no, no, I am no doctor. I don't want to pretend to be one. However, going out with her was always unnerving for our common group of friends. She never remembered to take nor bring her meds nor any life saving medical devices. She depended on us and her ex-husband (they are good friends.) to know what to do. Let's just say I am glad that she has moved out of state.

It's one of the most common allergies.

My wife is allergic to both soy and eggs. Try shopping for foods without these. It's a real PITA.
