Re: Recommend a washer / dryer (front loader) - raz - 10-10-2009 Just one datapoint, but our Whirlpool washer has had almost as much problems as the above Bosch. Detergent door broke, the door sensor switch failed, the first one was D.O.A. YMMV Re: Recommend a washer / dryer (front loader) - dk62 - 10-10-2009 We've had Whirlpool Duet washer for 7 years now without major issues (one small cheap-to-fix problem). Bought the dryer separately deciding that the look of our laundry room is not worth spending extra $500 for a matching dryer. Re: Recommend a washer / dryer (front loader) - Kraniac - 10-10-2009 I re-did a bathroom/utility area 6 years ago and installed Frigidaire Gallery series front loading stackables. They've worked perfectly in every respect. This thread will probably jinx everything, thanks in advance. Re: Recommend a washer / dryer (front loader) - Fritz - 10-10-2009 we've had the Whirlpool/Kenmore Duet for 5 or more years. So far so good. Re: Recommend a washer / dryer (front loader) - space-time - 10-10-2009 we have a GE Profile matching pair in our "new" house, they seem to be 3-4 years old and so far they seem to do a nice job, although we've only been here for 2 weeks so we haven't used all the options yet Re: Recommend a washer / dryer (front loader) - goosegunner - 10-10-2009 We have the bosch 500 series a few years. We now have a good one. 1.The first one worked great but had a dent on a side planel from the warehouse. 2. Second one had a bent bearing shaft, it knocked on spin. 3. Third one door would not close properly without slamming. 4. Fourth one works good. It also has a different rubber seal that doesn't get the mold jdc speaks of. Would I buy one again probably. But I would buy from same dealer and be persistent if something isn't right. Dealer service is important with any front loader since they spin at high speed. The tall pedestals can cause vibration problems with front loaders. The best advice I can give is use http://www.charliesoap.com/ It completely removed the musty smell you can get in front load washers. Clothes are softer and that is all we use. It took a while to get my wife to give up fabric softener. A few weeks after she did she told me "I admit it, the clothes are softer and smell better" gg from Re: Recommend a washer / dryer (front loader) - Black - 10-10-2009 Kraniac wrote: modelamac say Frigidaire good.
