the thing is that for some reason, zif upgrades are more expensive than the upgrades for g4s.

economy of scale. How many ZIF machines are their to be upgraded that WILL be upgraded, and how many AGP G4 machines that aren't MDD boxes that can/will be upgraded. All the non MDD AGP machines use essentially the same upgrades. That's a lot of boxes that can use the same upgrade cards. And AGP G4s can FW boot. ZIF machines can't.
