Back home now. Put in the 2 2GB chips I do have and to my shock and awe, the computer is up and running. If I can go 3 days without a kernel panic, I may start to believe that all is as it should be and I'll restore from my backup. For now, I am just running the basics.

Happy to see your Laptop is up and running. How could they even test the finished installation of above mentioned parts without the Ram.. STRANGEEE ~!~

so what did Apple Store genius do? did he give you some RAM or sent you home with empty slots?

I went home with the 2 1GB chips and they'll swap them out when the one they ordered comes into the store.

Hey just go to an laptop repair store. That will be the best option.
