i travel a fair amount and am neutral on the TSA. however, items were stolen out of checked luggage long before the TSA came about. it has always been known NOT to check valuables. who knows if theft is happening more but now the non-TSA thieves know no one will be looking for them as the TSA has keys and is everyone's favorite whipping boy. :agree:
The loudest complainers are the ones that need their cavities searched the most. The empty one on top of their shoulders. :-)

my sis-in-law was strongly encouraged to check her carry-on; the staff told her there wasn't enough room in the overhead compartments.
she didn't plan on checking her jewelry, and was all but forced into doing it.

Interesting that EVERYONE bashed TSA, but no one even wondered about who brought the thing on board and why - or anything else EXCEPT how crappy TSA is...
