I agree that trying to sync a review with a product is challenging, it's even more challenging trying to link a review to a specific seller, especially for somewhat generic products like non-OEM printer ink, or my latest search, CR2025 batteries in multi-packs.

Lots of reviews warning of short life, expired date codes, counterfeit products, etc, but not mentioning which of the multiple sellers it was from, and this mixed in with many of happy customers.

But between their shi!tty search engine and the fine distinctions betweeen Prime/Free Shipping/Sold by/Fulfilled by/etc., shopping at Amazon now is like a test.

One has to be careful to note the actual terms when selecting an item, such as the variant (model, color, fit), seller, and shipping options.

It doesn't help when slightly revised items recycle the same ASIN and page, and the reviews for disparate items are lumped together under the same listing, which distorts the rating.

That 7-port hub may suck, but the 4-port gets great ratings. Both are listed on the same page, distilled into the rating next to the price, but the only way to know is to read the title of each review carefully to see which is actually being reviewed.

Lots to trip up the unwary customer.

This is something that's been bothering me for awhile.

I don't care if Amazon is the store front. If a seller is providing merchandise that's substandard in any way, I'd like to know who it is.

There are two separate places for reviews- Amazon's customer reviews, and the individual seller ratings. A few times now, I've seen somebody mention poor service or substandard merchandise from one of Amazon's sellers, and make it a point to mention not naming them. That makes no sense to me. Just a quick mention and refer the reader to the feedback area.

Regarding my purchasing experience from Amazon, I can't recall having a problem with anything, that wasn't resolved easily, and successfully.

Last week I bought a patio table. Guaranteed delivery by Friday 8pm with Prime. It arrives sometime around noon on Saturday. I was on the fence about making a stink about it until this morning when I saw this post. I contact Amazon CS by chat just now here at work. It goes something like this.

Chat started.

Me: I ordered a table it was a day late. I type in details,, etc.
CS. I'm sorry for the inconvenience you experienced in this case.
---silence---
Me: Are you still there?
CS: Yes, I am still here.
---silence---
Me: Is there something you can offer me to compensate for the late delivery??
CS: I am sorry that it was delivered late
CS: Sure.
---silence---
CS: I will offer you $5 credit towards next purchase. Is that fine?
Me: Ok thanks.

A five dollar discount is fine with me. It was late by half a day. And it arrived on Saturday. But getting any type of compensation for the late delivery was like pulling teeth. You had to specifically ask for it. It wasn't offered up automatically.

I paid for 2-day guaranteed delivery. It did not arrive on time. I did not receive the service I paid extra for. So of course I want some sort of compensation. It used to a free month of Prime, but now that prime has gone up to 99bucks a year. A $5 credit is cheaper for their bottom line. Sneaky bastiches.

If anything, the monthly extensions are part of their written guarantee policy. The dollar credits aren't.

You should try again with another rep.

I spoke to another rep regarding my issue, and they were much more understanding, accomodating, and willing to send out a duplicate shipment. But OffTrac finally got their crap together and delivered the package.

For the places that offer around-the-clock CS, I believe that hitting the right call center for your "normal" time zone can play a factor. The off-hours, late night, and offshore staff might not offer the same level of service.

Heh! On a whim I checked out your link for the swatter and found one fulfilled by Amazon for .17 cents shipped! I had a few piddly items already in my cart so I went ahead and placed an order.

Here is the description:

Used - Like New

Item has no cosmetic scratches or blemishes. Item has no cracks or dents. Item will come in original packaging. Packaging may be damaged. All accessories are present and undamaged.

How the hell will anyone make money (at least, worth bothering with) on that item? :dunno:
