Re: Peyton Manning did not get paid for Bud plug at the end. - $tevie - 02-08-2016 Eating Papa John's and washing it down with Bud is a recipe for intestinal difficulties and banging headaches. With all that money he could do way better. Re: Peyton Manning did not get paid for Bud plug at the end. - mrbigstuff - 02-08-2016 if I had to choose between Papa Johns and the Budweiser I definitely go for the Budweiser Re: Peyton Manning did not get paid for Bud plug at the end. - bobinmurphy - 02-08-2016 The way I saw it he was making a personal statement not an endorsement. He also said he wanted to kiss his wife. Did the Gay community get all up in arms about that? Re: Peyton Manning did not get paid for Bud plug at the end. - tenders - 02-08-2016 I thought it was super-tacky too, but Disney has done the same "I'm going to Disney World" thing so it's hardly unprecedented. But if it's really illegal to advertise alcohol on the field, he should be held accountable. What he did was flagrant, and if illegal, it was flagrantly illegal. Agreed, much ado... My only criticism is that doing it a second time, it was clumsily done. He made the statement the first time down on the field, and was then asked to repeat it later. If he could have been a little more smooth about it, it wouldn't have come off as 'tacky", which I agree with. He had a lot going on and was trying to gracefully dodge the retirement question. Save that for another time. This was about the team and the win. Still, it was no big deal. I fully expected a "...going to Disneyland" plug from somebody. Those were patently obvious paid endorsements, but don't recall seeing one lately. So Manning throws in a little self-serving plug. BFD. Kaepernick wears Beats to a TV interview. Nobody cares he's doing an endorsement. The only reason it was newsworthy is because he defied a rule that was to protect another sponsor- Bose?
