It's simple: Un offers denuclearization only if BOTH countries agree to denuke. 45 balks, is angered at being played by Un, retaliates with nukes. "What's the use of having them if you don't use them?"

Can anyone provide one example of where Trump acted as a great negotiator? Seems his modus operandi is to bully and threaten, usually with legal action (he loves his lawyers), and let other people work a deal that he then takes credit for.
