Re: Pelosi: "We have arrows in our quiver that I'm not about to discuss right now." - GGD - 09-20-2020 I do hope that if there are any cases related to the election results that make it to the supreme court, that any justices that he appointed will recuse themselves. Re: Pelosi: "We have arrows in our quiver that I'm not about to discuss right now." - bfd - 09-20-2020 Same boomerang arrows she deployed for the impeachment? If so, it's just more noise. Only when a certain percentage of her caucus demanded it, did she relent. I'm sure you remember. Re: Pelosi: "We have arrows in our quiver that I'm not about to discuss right now." - PeterB - 09-20-2020 Facts: 1) This President was impeached. He was impeached on the basis of a thorough investigation that closely tied his campaign with a foreign power and for clearly attempting to obstruct the investigation. 2) This President was held to task by this "nasty woman". ![]() 3) It was the Senate, NOT Congress, that refused to convict, along nearly strictly party lines. 4) Regardless of his non-conviction, this President will forever have the stain of impeachment on his record (see #1). 5) This "nasty woman" is not powerless. Congress is not powerless. The American people are not powerless. 6) November 4th is now only 44 days away. See #5. ![]() 7) Even if Trump and McConnell somehow manage to ram their candidate down everyones' throats, there will be consequences. Actions have consequences. See #6. Re: Pelosi: "We have arrows in our quiver that I'm not about to discuss right now." - Sarcany - 09-20-2020 PeterB wrote: Peter, you just made the case that she's powerless. Standing up for what's right counts for something, even if you lose the battle. History will record that the House did the right thing, even when the Senate did not. Furthermore, Trump's legacy will always be tainted by the impeachment, and there's also nothing stopping his being convicted after he leaves office. Edit: I think we ALL know, deep down, that Trump has participated in criminal behavior, and that what we know about is dwarfed by what we do not. My guess is that after he leaves office, a TON more info about his collaboration with / coercion by the Russians will come out ... leaving every decision that he made during his tenure to be questioned and reexamined. I think many Republicans are aware of this, which is why there are now cracks in the red wall... some realizing that their complicity in what is now happening will eventually come back to bite them on the behind. Re: Pelosi: "We have arrows in our quiver that I'm not about to discuss right now." - RgrF - 09-20-2020 An impeachment attempt at this juncture is liable to cost Biden the election. If there are such things as history books and it's recorded somewhere and the public is allowed to read it then I'm sure someone will take great comfort in that from his little corner hellhole in the work-camps as he toils his short life away to keep a wealthy few in comfort and power. "Well, at least the House drafted a firm letter of reproach!" "Well, at least the House drafted a firm letter of reproach!" Your cynicism is showing; better have that looked at. ![]() But seriously, what would you expect? She is the head of only one of our three branches of government, and there's only so much she can do in that position. She has done / is doing what she can; which is more than I can say for a lot of people in government right now.
