I thought you were in Virginia or DC area, somewhere on the East Coast. Was I wrong?

Yeah, in Virginia...just in a part of the state conveniently located about 2 hours from DC and 2 from Richmond :-)

Some of us remember paying $3.5K for G4 "Wind Tunnels".....

Talk about a fan of noise!

When I heard that the hk (Hush Kit) was still loud, I didn't bother getting it.

If I'm honest, the noise didn't really bother me at all, except sometimes late at night when the ambience demanded quiet.

If noise is a deal breaker for you, I’d return it and if you want more than the M2 mini, I’d wait to see if they release a baby Mac Pro, like previously reported at the end of this year. My 2019 12 core Mac Pro is totally quiet all the time and totally cool as well. Even though I choked when I bought it, I haven’t regretted paying the beaucoup bucks at any time.

Yeah, it's ready for Fedex dropoff. It should be an interesting year to see how things hopefully finish out within the Apple Silicon lineup. I expect the Mac Pro (or whatever they call it) will be the last new model. And then probably some of the original M1 models will get updated to M2 or whatever. An unchanged Mini (with the exception of an M2 update) may not be compelling enough for me to upgrade from my M1 Mini.

The Mac Studio is really my ideal computer/form factor. It's got the connectivity I need at the right price point. if they could fix the noise issue, I'd buy a new one in a heartbeat, maybe even move up to an Ultra. I doubt I'd spring for a Mac Pro at a $5k+ price point. With how I buy/use computers these days, I just don't plan on keeping anything for 5+ years like I may have at one point. I'd rather spend $3k twice than I would spend $6k once in a 5 year period, for instance. Those mid-term upgrades are probably a better move for me than buying and sticking with a mongo expensive tower (or whatever form factor the "big" one will use) and keeping it longer.

But who knows. Once we see how everything shakes out this year, I'll probably be parting with this cash again one way or another.
