oooo, that's cold!
see what I did there?

Re: macOS 14 Sonoma - SKYLANE - 06-06-2023

I have a friend from Barstow, was joking with him just last night that the new macOS would be called Barstow! I laughed when someone else above mentioned it here also!

How about macOS Death Valley? Blythe? Baker?

Actually, I hope one of the upcoming macOS versions will be called Sequoia

Yes, I also noticed Craig’s skills utilizing the Force, he is a Jedi now?

I think Tim said "iconic California places" when they launched Mavericks. They have gone in a circle from Bay Area coast, to the Sierras, to the desert, back to the coast (Catalina) and up the coast...and then back to the Bay Area. Probably 'upper California' next?

Tahoe
Lassen
Shasta
Trinity
Eureka! (also state motto =)
Mendocino
Cascadia (lol, probably not a good choice.)

That's strictly reserved for the LAST version of macOS ever.

They've been campy with Craig the last few announcements... he was done up like a superhero previously, as well as "Craig Ventura - macOS Detective"

Do folks know why I made the Spahn Ranch reference?

That OS would be full of killer apps, probably.

Ranch

Us native Californians of a certain age knew what you were getting at. It's funnier with the "killer apps" comment included, though.

the other 25 years are just bottle conditioned anyway.

or, of you must ...

Yeah, I don't know why the vintage, well aged scotches are so freaking expensive, compared to their newer, longer cask-aged compatriots. But the neuro crud, that forced my on-the-wagoneering, has had the lone benefit of increasing the value of the old booze collection. Substantially, evidently. Frankly, back in my consuming days, I thought the 18 y.o. was better than the 25 y.o., regardless of acquisition cost.

On the Name Game front, how 'bout the lesser-known, but still nice California places......

Pacific Grove, Carpenteria, Muir Woods, Encinitas, Mill Valley, Cambria, Rancho Bernardo, Point Reyes......,
it's like we've got an endless supply of OS names here.
And a personal shout out to (beachside) Hollister Ranch; not to be confused w/ Hollister (sans "Ranch"), the up and coming Gilroy suburb.

(and a far, far cry from the desert, valley digs of the Spahn [Spawn of Satan] Ranch....)
Cool

Back in my UCSB days, there was an undeveloped plot of land where I would take dates to park. Moonlit night, ocean view, isolated environs... everything a young lad out on a date with a comely lass could want.

MacOS Undeveloped Plot would be nice.
