One of my cars is an Audi, I'd gladly have it stolen.

I left my car in El Segundo.
I left my car in El Segundo.
I got to get it. I got, got to get it.

She ditched the car under the highway where the choppers couldn't see her and got away. https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/police-chase-authorities-pursuit-suspect-la-county-jun-26-2024

Car doesn't have to sit "in evidence" for 9 months?

Likely not, but that's the DA's call.

It's not evidence of a crime beyond getting some fingerprints out of it.

It's a stolen vehicle and some cash.

There was no robbery, based on what little has been reported.

Car theft is generally $5000 and one year in jail, max.

Take some pics, dust the car for prints, release it.

Stealing the cash is a separate crime, but I don't see how it rises to robbery.

Barring unusual circumstances, 'recovered stolens' are routinely returned to the owner in a relatively short time.

Initial report was carjacking.

That I can believe, here in LA Audi's tend to get jacked more than stolen.

I haven't seen anything reported that supports carjacking.

In CA, carjacking is taking a vehicle through force or fear, ie strongarm, gun, or threat.

There was a follow up report today. The car was used in a home robbery the day before, police spotted it using switched plates and gave pursuit. Two in custody, one in the wind.

If they're friends, they'll get that third one.
