Did I mention every American? Or at least the real ones. Re: Recommended book on GWOT- Particularly War in Iraq - Dennis S - 12-13-2008 I'm torn on this. On the one hand, you have Stizzealth. On the other hand, General Tommy Franks. Who to believe. Who to believe. Re: Recommended book on GWOT- Particularly War in Iraq - Dennis S - 12-13-2008 "His arguments are succinctly and clearly explained in 530 pages ..." Succinctly? 530 pages? Feith: We might have made some mistakes in our implementation (it is all very complicated, you know, so some mistakes were inevitable) but we were right in principle. The admission of "possibly having made some mistakes" will be taken by conservatives as a sign of objectivity - basically ignoring the fact that he was wrong on a great many of the larger aspects of the situation; e.g., that Iraq was the central front in the conflict with international terrorists. But his rationalizations will help conservatives keep alive the illusion that they pursued what was fundamentally the right approach even if the implementation was "less than perfect". As for the book report, I've already read it. I think you can probably actually read the text yourself, sans book report. It's hard to believe that the neocons cling to guys like Feith, Perle, Wolfowitz when thay all have proven to be such tremendous liars and continue to be self delusional. Don't take my word for it - look at all the lefty liberals that I quoted (and those were some of the nicer ones) Any of these that you want to dispute ? I'm sure Rummy & Scooter have some nice things to say. |
