"Base: Adjust low frequency sounds. You can also adjust bass boost or attenuation.

Treble - Adjust high frequency sounds. You can also adjust for treble boost or attenuation."

Of course I don't know what all of that means, but that's what it says. And I also found this: "Lip Sync - Adjust the audio portion of the program being viewed so that it matches the movement of the lips of someone talking on the screen." I sure am glad you prompted me to look in the manual! Smile

OK, thanks. you've knocked me out of my fixation on this one brand and model. I will do my best to swing by a B/M and check out the Vizio firsthand today. Wouldn't be so urgent if Lost, Medium, and Heroes weren't all in-season . . .
The $475 dealio is an eBay "best offer" that's good until tomorrow.

For a while, I had a small subwoofer from a cheap computer speaker setup hooked to my tv to add a little bass. The tv sounded decent, but lacked bass, so it was sufficient without adding a big mess of speakers. kj.

Not a bad idea . . . but it would be nice to have one less thing to go crazy when my cell phone is negotiating with the tower.

That's just what I needed, and actually better than I'd hoped-- just wanted to make sure there's not just one slider to adjust between bass and treble (all those do is turn the frequencies you want less of down, effectively guaranteeing tinniness when you turn it towards treble or moofiness when you turn it towards bass).

There is or was a huge debate about plasma and LCD. I have both and I can tell you that plasma blows away the LCD in brightness. I almost can't watch the LCD anymore.

Do you realize that when viewing a 32" 16:9 HDTV in 4:3 mode it is equivalent to a 26.1" CRT?

This link will let you calculate other sizes: http://www.cavecreations.com/tv2.cgi

I'm surprised it's that big, but why would you watch anything in 4:3 anymore? kj.

Well, maybe because that's how some stations continue to broadcast? I have two 16:9 sets - as a matter of fact the one right next to me is on, and I have it set to display the picture as "Normal" (4:3) because both of the other settings stretch the picture. I don't have HD service with my cable, so there are only a couple of stations I can get in HD through the QAM tuner, and those display automatically in 16:9. From my point of view, I'd much rather watch the unstretched version of non-HD broadcasts.
