maybe Toyota should send a team of designers and engineers to walk the floor of a few auto shows to see how the smart people do it......

The original article about the crash mentioned the wrong model mat in the car. It might never have been anchored in the first place.
Has there been any definitive information since then?

Reminds me of BMW's duct tape fix for my friends 7 series. The power seat switch on the driver's seat was know to break loose. The BMW dealer fixed it with super glue and duct tape. At least they put it all on the inside, where you can't see it.
