Re: For those with inquiring minds: I survived the date - dmann - 04-07-2006 3d- that's my point! I made the 1st move and I am willing to go out with him again. I shouldn't have mentioned any of it at all because now it looks like I am demanding and quite the princess which couldn't be further from the truth. DM Re: For those with inquiring minds: I survived the date - RAMd®d - 04-07-2006 Be the man- be a gentleman. If it's a problem, she'll let you know. He could have easily said "You're wearing a skirt and CMFMs, so I'll scootch. Unless you *want* flash the pooty." dmann [might] have had a B-wax and wanted to show off a little. Or not. Yes, it's the traditional values for me. BunBun is VERY ashamed of you. ![]() Re: For those with inquiring minds: I survived the date - 3d - 04-07-2006 dmann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > 3d- that's my point! I made the 1st move and I am > willing to go out with him again. > *gasp* YOU HUSSY!! haha Most everyone here is shocked with men's behavior nowadays. Be a gentleman, Be a man. Do this. Do that. Traditional values. But when i comment on you contacting him first, everyone has a hissy fit. And even comments on my peronal character! What's with all this man bashing? What about a woman being a LADY. I'm half kidding here. Don't take my comments too personally. Re: For those with inquiring minds: I survived the date - PeterB - 04-07-2006 RAMmie, yeah, sorry, but I think "traditional values" are out the window at this point. They've gone the way of traditional gender roles, the dodobird, etc. It's 2006, not 1906... no longer does the man have to make the first move, nor the woman wait for the phone call, etc. dmann, what, this isn't you?: ![]() ![]() ... but seriously, I didn't mean to make you out as "demanding", and yes, I'm all in favor of considerate behavior. Just so long as it's not Miss Manners-style of saying that "this person has to do 'X'", etc., which I think is for the birds. Re: For those with inquiring minds: I survived the date - GeneL - 04-07-2006 ![]() Precious says, "PeterB, as a bird, I expect the man to hold the door open, pour the drink for me and feed me sunflower seeds whenever I say 'I love you' and raise my little foot" Re: For those with inquiring minds: I survived the date - wurm - 04-07-2006 Hell, I've held a door open for another guy on occasion. Courtesy is courtesy. On the rare occasion when I go out for a few drinks with a couple of friends, we all tend to "top up" each other' beer mugs, too. Although that may simply be a case of an ulterior motive of more quickly ordering another. ![]() Oh, and P.S., dmann. I'm glad to hear you had an okay time. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that, y'know? It's a game of numbers (or so I've heard). Re: For those with inquiring minds: I survived the date - PeterB - 04-07-2006 Yup, wurm, I do think it's a numbers game. One of my bros is getting married this summer-- he and his fiancée met on Match.com. He told me that he calculated at one point how many profiles, personals, etc. he had to go through to find the "right one"... it ended up being in the thousands! Re: For those with inquiring minds: I survived the date - D-Rod - 04-07-2006 Congratulations! I am glad it worked out ok and we didn't have to send out a search party for you. Who knows, he might still turn out to be a good friend or hook you up with the love of your life. You never know where life will take you. Dennis R Re: For those with inquiring minds: I survived the date - schmani - 04-07-2006 I'm glad it went decently and wasn't as scary as you thought - I knew you could do it! This is interesting regarding the door/wine/holding thing...you said he was a decent enough fellow and just mentioned that you would have appreciated a few nice things. I would have to agree. But it's not purely a "guy-must-do-this-for-a-girl thing." I don't really open car doors, but I definitely open building doors for people behind me, men or women. And if I'm eating with friends or family and there's a drink to be poured and I pour my own, I'll ask if anyone wants more soda/tea/beer/milk/whatever. If one wants to impress, one goes the extra mile. So he was nice, just not impressive, I would say? I don't think you're a princess. Princesses don't spend time chitchatting with fellow geeks & geekettes on a forum. |
