Re: Who The Hell Takes A Four Year Old On A Ski Chairlift? - M A V I C - 12-21-2009 My kid will be on skis or a snowboard as soon as he's big enough to fit in the boots. As far as getting on a lift, it will be whatever the youngest age the resort allows. Re: Who The Hell Takes A Four Year Old On A Ski Chairlift? - Michael - 12-21-2009 My daughter was on a tbar at 4 and a chair lift at 5. She learned to ski in Alabama at a "resort" that is a golf course in the summer and has a 100 yard wide, 500 yard long slope in the winter. We did that a couple of times when she was 4 and then to North Carolina when she was 5. Hm. - RAMd®d - 12-21-2009 Well, I'm certainly no skier, so I would be the first to say I have little knowledge of the sport. Call my disbelief a gut reaction, if you want. That's what happens when you shoot from the hip. Don't worry. You're not the first and you won't be the last. Re: Who The Hell Takes A Four Year Old On A Ski Chairlift? - pRICE cUBE - 12-21-2009 Here in Salt Lake City, home of the 2002 Winter Olympics, we ski right after we get out of the womb. I see young children all the time on slopes. Most parents that take young children make sure their kids stay on the lift. If it were me in that place, my instincts would have probably had me jumping right off after them. Whew, me too. I keep a hammerlock on my daughter(s) going up the chairlift. No kidding around on the lift! Re: Who The Hell Takes A Four Year Old On A Ski Chairlift? - bruceko - 12-21-2009 My kids almost never fell off the chair lift when they were little. Re: Who The Hell Takes A Four Year Old On A Ski Chairlift? - DRR - 12-21-2009 I bet there are a 100x more accidents getting off the lift at the top of the mountain, than from falling off the lift in the middle. Sad though - those lifts are not designed for 4 year olds. They're not the right size, and when you consider that a 4yo has trouble concentrating and listening at the level of an adult, doesn't fully understand consequences, is wearing layers and layers of slippery clothing, and has weights hanging from their feet - it's kind of a recipe for disaster. Re: Who The Hell Takes A Four Year Old On A Ski Chairlift? - OWC Jamie - 12-21-2009 3 and 4 year olds should NOT be allowed on chair lifts. Not even the slopes. Too embarrassing when they fly by you calling you grandpa on the black diamonds.:booty: |
