Sheriff's official RIck Castigar says on CNN 18 wounded.
Now: AP is reporting that Giffords has died according to KNST radio Tucson. Press conference delayed.

Multiple news sources are reporting Giffords still alive. AP reporting that she has died, but was one of the news organizations that initially prematurely reported her death.
Some sources are saying Judge Roll only wounded, NBC reporting he has died.

Giffords alive.
Spokesman says he's "optimistic" as far as her prospects. She is responding to commands. "Only" shot once, "through and through". Surgery completed. Giffords in ICU, sedated.

It seems too much to hope right now that Gabby will eventually be able to return to Congress, but I am hoping. A little while ago it was too much to hope that she was still alive.
I don't have words to express how awful I feel to learn that a child is among the murdered.
