Re: Speaking of tests... do you have Asperger's? - BernDog - 07-23-2013 24. Borderline borderline, I guess. I think I'm just a run of the mill nerd, not clinical. Obviously not a scientific test, but if those results are even just slightly indicitave of a clinical diagnosis, I can see how it can be misdiagnosed so easily. Used to be if a kid had any problems, they were ADD. It became so blatantly misdiagnosed that all the doctors stopped going there. They moved to Asperger's instead. Oh noes! Everyone's autistic! Don't mean to belittle anyone's struggles with ADD or Asperger's. If I suffered from either, I'd be pretty pissed at this point about mis/overdiagnoses. Since "normal" for anything is on a sliding scale, a line needs to be drawn in the sand somewhere. I just think the line needs to be moved from where it is now. It's just way too easy to be labeled these days. Re: Speaking of tests... do you have Asperger's? - laarree - 07-23-2013 Didn't bother doing this test, but, FWIW, I investigated Asperger's seriously for a while last year, sought out the counsel of a couple of professionals (my usual therapist and a specialist), did a bunch of online and bookish research, and went through a diagnostic process. The upshot is that, in the consensus of these two mental health professionals, I have at least mild Asperger's/high-functioning autism, although it's not very evident because of the informal, agonizing social and life skills acquisition process I slogged through over the last few decades since I was a youngster. All it means is that I have enough of a bunch of traits that qualifies me to wear the badge if I so choose, along with my gay badge, my Mac user pin, and many other cute little identity accessories. I don't mind mentioning this here, because I'm sure that many people here on this forum are far weirder than I am. :-) Re: Speaking of tests... do you have Asperger's? - Janit - 07-23-2013 PeterB wrote: Yes, and sometimes introversion is just introversion. Are you saying your life experience has taught you how to tailor your test responses for a particular result? Re: Speaking of tests... do you have Asperger's? - Black - 07-24-2013 Funny how everyone's always like all "thanks to our sponsor" but then when they try to make a few pennies off this site everyone trips over each-other to crow about how they've defeated the evil income-generating apparatus. Re: Speaking of tests... do you have Asperger's? - gabester - 07-27-2013 I got this result: 11 The official criteria for Aspergers Syndrome is an AQ score greater than 32. According to statistical analysis, 26 – 31 Is a borderline score. 86% of people with this score can be correctly classified as having Aspergers Syndrome. Enter your email address below to receive more information about Asperger’s Syndrome. == Since we're all about quibbling here, I presume they're telling me 86% people with scores above 32 have asperger's, but clearly my 11 is well below that... but the implication reading through seems to be that 86% of people scoring an 11 are asperger's which is clearly not the case... |
