Re: What instrument(s) do you play? - Black - 12-05-2013 Hornist here, currently playing regularly with two community orchestras. Karaoke star on the side, and dabble in guitar and bass. I like the way our ensemble is shaping up. Re: What instrument(s) do you play? - CW2V - 12-05-2013 I have a few guitars, and I play around on them, but I don't think any one could accuse me of "playing" them well. No formal training or music classes but a lot of song books. CW2V Re: What instrument(s) do you play? - Chakravartin - 12-05-2013 Guitar. Harmonica. Neither very well, but if enthusiasm counts... still not very well. LOL Re: What instrument(s) do you play? - Harbourmaster - 12-05-2013 Tenor Sax, Clarinet, Flute... I play these well enough that I could perform in public, but not as well as I did as a teenager when I was playing them every day for a couple of hours... . Ukulele, and Banjo just well enough to sing along with for fun... Re: What instrument(s) do you play? - Don C - 12-05-2013 Piano lessons as a kid gave me enough skill to plunk out a tune but not a lot more. Sang in choirs from time as a kid through early adult but got a way from that. Tunes are recognizable on soprano and alto recorder and also the bowed psaltry. Pretty much moved from being a "producer" of music to a "consumer" of music as a teacher of Scottish and English country dance. Re: What instrument(s) do you play? - NewtonMP2100 - 12-05-2013 heart strings......??? Re: What instrument(s) do you play? - comphernation - 12-05-2013 Drums. Started in 5th grade, played in all the school bands (marching, concert, dance) right up through high school, then was in the Navy Drum & Bugle Corps during boot camp. Began paid gigs in 8th grade and have never stopped. Studied with some of my my musical heroes for a while at Musicians Institute in Hollyweird back in '82-83. (That was awesome!) All I ever wanted to be (mainly) was a professional drummer. I pulled it off well for a long time but later on, life intervened, and I fell into other things. I still gig regularly, sometimes 3-4 times a week, but lately just weekend nights. And I teach, as I have off and on throughout my life. I can only dabble at guitar -- nothing for public consumption. I studied piano for a year and loved it; alas, simply ran out of time. As to Joan Jett, referenced in another thread, she's still got it. Met her on the USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7), under way to NYC in 2009. She flew out to entertain the crew. I was aboard as an officer with US Naval Sea Cadets. Great USO show that day. Okay, all done rambling. :-) Re: What instrument(s) do you play? - Black - 12-05-2013 Don C wrote: Without consumers of music there wouldn't be much point to producing it. |
