Re: AAPL: I'm keeping every share - IronMac - 01-03-2019 As for AAPL, I toyed with the idea of getting back in a couple of months ago but so glad I did not. I ditched the last of my AAPL when it was at $119 a couple of years ago for the reason that I didn't think it was a growth stock anymore. Nothing I have seen in the past year or so has changed that idea. I think that AAPL is in trouble in its overseas markets. And, I don't know how much it can milk its customers in the US and Europe in terms of services to make up for its growth shortfall. I had had high hopes for the Apple Watch and the company's payment service but I don't believe that those are going to be huge growth drivers. I see Apple Watches on probably 50% of my peers & friends. I know people own them, but I think it’s a fad. I don't time the market nor stocks, it's not the way I operate. I took some of the money from AAPL and moved it into stocks like Amazon, MSFT, Alphabet, Visa, etc. Made some really bad calls like CELG and SNAP. Keep in mind, I’m a longtime Pebble user. I find the notifications disruptive and non-intuitive to turn off or down. And the lack of the ability to design your own watchface or to let developers do so is very limiting. I know I can customize the watch faces Apple ships but there is a real limitation. I also have peers with their Apple Watches - most never use them except as time pieces. When their current device breaks, I doubt they will replace unless they want the passive health features. |
