Of all the companies that have "subscription models," SiriusXM has always been the easiest to deal with. I set a reminder on my phone for a few days before my plan expires and call them. Tell them that I want to renew at the $5-6/month plan and want the longest contract extension they can give me at the present time. Sometimes I have to repeat my request a few times while they cycle through other, more expensive options. I never fail to get that deal, however. I now have all 3 cars timed up on the same subscription time-frame, so they are either retaining 3 vehicles or losing 3 vehicles.

Yeah, I've never had any problems. But I certainly agree with the "use an expiring credit card" or "get the invoice" suggestions.
