I think the appeal with the above product is that you are the weak link, so fool yourself if you can into thinking you hear something. Pretty sure that listing was a joke, team. Re: raise you hand if you can still hear 40Khz - Rolando - 11-30-2021 I used to torture my kids with a 20K tone, loud. I couldn't hear it, but they would come out and say "What is that" At max volume, I still could not hear it, but I could feel the sound pressure in my ears. Re: raise you hand if you can still hear 40Khz - kj - 11-30-2021 There's a graph of the effect of age on hearing somewhere, and it's pretty depressing. So much so, that I'm not going to look for it so I can post it. Fwiw, I used to listen to terrible music because it was recorded so well, and I'm totally, so over that. If it's great music on a old clock radio, that's good enough to be enjoyed, for me. So as long as I can hear what's happening musically, I'm happy. I don't care about the audiophile aspect, much. On the other hand, as my hearing gets worse, I think a good mix, and music with some space is more important, not less. I have something going on, almost like fluid in my ears that emphasizes some weird mid-bass circumstance. I had an issue a few weeks back where all sound appeared distorted like how a Star Wars robot speaks, the ones with harmonic distortion like it’s coming thru a cheap radio barely getting a signal. Yet another example where measured specification doesn’t reveal much. We sense sound in ways other than what our ears transmit. You can feel low frequencies fairly easily because it’s a longer waveform. Hard to “measure” bass impact.
