I never got involved with anyone at work tho tempted.
But i did get involved with someone at my church, and it did not end well. Took us a year to be able to be in each other's presence again. Hard on us and hard on others.
It's okay now, but it was tough then.
I couldn't say not to do it, get involved with someone at work, but I'd advise really thinking hard about the possible outcomes and ramifications.

Let me rephrase the question somewhat...
Imagine yourself at work. Imagine having a coworker who you are absolutely gaga over. Imagine that she/he seems to have the same feelings for you. What kind of worthless dweeb would you be NOT to go out with him/her?

the key is if/when the end is near, end it like mature adults, and have the balls to admit when it isn't working out as planned, and end it gracefully.
Oh, and it helps when the boss who thought she was a lesbian finds out she was just seeing the wrong kind of guys.

Relationships, and thus the consequences of them, are inherently unpredictable.
