Wow, lots of players. Wonder if being adept with music and computers are related?

Played trumpet for 4 years in elementary and middle school, then a tiny bit of mandolin and banjo, and guitar just well enough to demo them.

Those are sweet guitars. Can you hold it classical style? There are pads that help with that, so that the neck is held higher and the lower part is in your lap. The normal way of holding a steel string is the worst for ergonomics.

Here's one type on ebay.

I played a trumpet in the Kilgore, Texas, junior and high school bands where I was first chair the last couple of years and in the Rice University band for a year before it became known as "The Mob". I convinced my parents to buy a Selmer K-Modified trumpet my HS senior year (1957) at a cost of $350 or so, a significant part of my dad's monthly income. In 1993 while living in Oman I had it totally refurbished - dings taken out, re-lacquered, etc. I just checked eBay and saw that it's worth $1200 to $1500. I haven't played it in many years so should probably sell it.

Played baritone through school, I wanted to play sousaphone but they didn't have one so I settled for baritone.

My daughter plays dilruba...maybe we could get her to join.

Get with it man! If it doesn't hurt, then you can't play the blues.

Pretty much moved from being a "producer" of music to a "consumer" of music as a teacher of Scottish and English country dance.

Without consumers of music there wouldn't be much point to producing it.
I disagree. People play for the fun of it.
