(CBS) The investigation into the shooting rampage outside a Tuscon grocery store that killed at least five people and left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords clinging to life centers around one man - 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner, authorities said.
Officials said the suspect, currently in custody, used a Glock 9mm pistol equipped with an extended magazine to carry out the attack, reports CBS News correspondent Bob Orr. There is no word on the number of rounds fired. Authorities are currently tracing the weapon to find out who owns it and where it was purchased.
A federal law enforcement official tells CBS News that police and federal agents are still investigating the possibility that others may have been involved in the attack, but so far, the probe centers on a single shooter.

1. Why on earth has everyone assumed that seeing.the.unseeable. is on the right? His posts have always been moderate- to left-leaning and he and Dakota have NEVER gotten along.
2. Is the reason everyone has jumped on seeing.the.unseeable's arse because you do believe that he is a right-winger? If you thought he was a left-winger would you have left him alone?
3. What did seeing.the.unseeable say that upset everyone so much? When Pogo says "We Have Met The Enemy and He Is Us" everyone thinks it is so profound.
4. People were SHOT and DIED and you all get your panties in a bunch about what seeing.the.unseeable wrote. Nice to see you have your priorities straight.

I think many here, myself included, are aware of seeing's politics. What I wrote was in response to what he wrote. If anything, the responses should affirm that everyone is open to criticism. Why make it about what side of the spectrum they come from?

One of the saddest things these days is the compression of the news cycle.
It used to be that there was a period of mourning/shock that lasted a couple of days before people felt the need to instantly connect the dots that would make their own political case. I think that even I'm guilty of jumping into that fast moving stream.

I am guessing that this shooting was not about politics, it was about shooting someone prominent and easy to get at. Just my guess based on past performance of wingnuts shooting at politicians: Arthur Bremer, Squeaky Fromme, Lee Harvey Oswald, et. al.

maco, that was the first thing I thought of, the target map. Sarah Palin posted her condolences immediately on her FB page. Trying to cover her tracks.

I don't thin Palin's verbiage or map had anything to do with this case. But, this case should give her and others pause. They do stir up the wackos, and they know it.

I linked to that on the first page of this thread because at the time it was freaking me out that one of the people on the graph was actually shot. But even after my calming down, it shows that a graphic like that isn't a good idea because the very existence of the graphic is going to bite you in the arse if/when something like this happens.
